Overwhelmed by anxiety and self-doubt, she battles her inner critic, as she spirals deeper into self-doubt.Alyssum is my BFA capstone film, where I served as Director, Writer, Art Director, and Head of Story. Mary-Go-Round
Director | Short Film | Psychological | JAN 2023 - MAY 2023
Logline: Mary wants to ride the Merry-Go-Round until she sees eyes that aren't her's- Oh! There's a new shiny horse.A bit about the film:
Mary-go-round is an allegory about the dangers of getting lost in superficial desires. The carousel represents the cycle of chasing things that seem shiny and exciting, but ultimately trap us. Mary starts off as a curious child, drawn to the allure of the ride. As the carousel spins, she slowly loses control, unaware that she's becoming part of the machine. The eye in the mirror represents a moment of self-awareness, but by the time she realizes she’s trapped, it’s too late — she’s transformed into one of the horses, alive but unchanging. The story serves as a warning about losing oneself in the things we think will bring happiness but ultimately consume us.It’s not just about Mary’s fate — it’s about how any of us could end up on that carousel, becoming part of the ride.
